Collaborations Liability Workshop

About the Workshop

TCRMF Liability Workshop –

Collaborations

The Risk Managers Advisory Committee is presenting a workshop about the risk management considerations involved in collaborations between Texas community centers and other entities in their community. Schools, hospitals, law enforcement agencies, and local non-profits are seeking collaborative relationships to stretch dollars, provide new services, and expand their reach in the community. Privacy concerns, insurance matters, public entity vs. private entity issues and HIPAA pose potential conflicts in collaborative relationships. The workshop will present descriptions of the conflicts, ways to manage the risks, and will examine the Memorandums of Understanding (MOU’s) between the collaborators.

Speakers will include:

  • Chance Freeman, Health and Human Services Commission
  • Andrea Richardson, Bluebonnet Trails Community Services
  • Richard Wigzell, Texas Council Risk Management Fund
  • Panelists from local collaborators such as schools, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and law enforcement.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Center employees who negotiate and/or participate in collaborative arrangements including executive staff, directors and managers of mental health and IDD, veteran services, field services, community relations, human resources, general counsels, risk managers and CFO’s would benefit from understanding the risks, complexities, benefits, and pitfalls of collaborative relationships.

The registration fee is:

  • $75 for each representative of centers that are members of the Fund
  • $375 for each representative of centers that are not members of the Fund.

The workshop will be conducted at the Renaissance Austin Hotel; 9721 Arboretum Blvd., Austin, Texas 78759.
